If you have been considering surrogacy, you will need to decide
which kind of surrogacy is best for you and your partner.
TYPES OF SURROGACY
A Gestational Surrogate (more commonly called Gestational Carrier)
is not biologically related to the child(ren) that she carries.
In Vitro Fertilization (also called IVF) is used with the eggs of
the Intended Mother or an egg donor and the Intended Father's sperm.
The fertilized embryos resulting from the IVF are transferred to
the gestational carrier. The carrier will take injectible (and sometimes
oral) medications throughout the IVF cycle and the first trimester
(this can last up to 12 weeks).
TRADITIONAL SURROGACY
A Traditional Surrogate is biologically related to the child(ren)
that she carries. Her eggs are used with the Intended Father's sperm
via Insemination (more commonly referred to as AI, HI or IUI).
